Saint Clotilde is celebrated on June 4th
Saint Clotilde is celebrated on June 4th in the Catholic Church and on June 3rd in the Orthodox Church. Born in Lyon, France, in 475, Saint Clotilde was a princess from the Burgundy region. His childhood was marked by family tragedies, including the murder of his parents and three brothers by an uncle. After these events, Clotilde was raised by a Catholic aunt. In 493, Clotilde married Clovis I, king of the Franks, who was a pagan. Thanks to her patience, love and faith, she managed to convert Clovis to Christianity. He was baptized at Christmas 508 by the bishop of Reims, and his subjects followed his example, establishing France as the first Christian state in the West. Saint Clotilde is remembered for her dedication to the Christian faith and her charitable works, including the construction of churches and monasteries. She is described as a loving and simple woman, concerned with the well-being of the people and those less fortunate.
