In Elemental, the protagonists Drop and Spark were created digitally with around 10,000 controls, surpassing Pixar's average of 4,000. Director Peter Sohn highlights the challenges resulting from multiple layers of effects. Realistic details were considered, such as the exclusion of the shadow effect for Spark, representing the nature of fire. Gota received special attention to portray the authenticity of water, including bluish tones, malleable shapes and rising bubbles.
