The Superman drawing that represents the club was created by cartoonist Ziraldo, in 1979. To help in the fight against racism, the classic mascot gained, in 2014, a companion: Lindona da Bahêa, a version of the artist Nei Costa for the Wonder Woman.

The player Bitonho, from Bahia, left the field arrested because he attacked the referee. The following day, Bitonho committed suicide.
