March 7 is Marines' Day
March 7 is Marines' Day in Brazil, in honor of the creation of the Royal Navy Brigade in 1808, by order of the then Prince Regent Dom João VI. The date celebrates the marines, highly trained military personnel to act in amphibious operations, ensuring the defense of the territory and national sovereignty.
The marines are part of the Marine Corps of the Brazilian Navy, and are recognized for their discipline, courage and preparation to act in land and sea combat, as well as humanitarian and peacekeeping missions around the world.
With the motto “Ad sumus” (Here we are), these military personnel stand out for their readiness and ability to adapt to different operational scenarios. In addition to national defense, they play an essential role in situations of public calamity and in international security actions.
March 7 is a date of recognition and respect for the work of these warriors, who dedicate their lives to protecting Brazil and its population.
