1st week of February is Interfaith Harmony
1st week of February is Interfaith Harmony Day, from the 1st to the 7th. Established in 2010 by the United Nations (UN), the initiative aims to promote mutual understanding, respect and cooperation between people of different religions, beliefs and philosophies.
The main objective of the week is to reinforce the importance of interfaith dialogue as a tool for building world peace. The celebration also seeks to combat religious intolerance and promote the universal values of solidarity and harmony.
The proposal was presented by King Abdullah II of Jordan during the UN General Assembly in 2010. The initiative is based on the 2004 "Amman Message", which highlights the principles of respect and mutual understanding between religions. The UN unanimously adopted the resolution, recognizing the need for initiatives that promote peaceful coexistence in a diverse world.
Throughout the week, religious organizations, governments, NGOs and individuals around the world are hosting events such as conferences, workshops, interfaith celebrations and awareness campaigns.
