December 7th is Forestry
December 7th is Forestry Day, established by Law 12.643 of 2012. This date aims to raise awareness among society and rural producers about the importance of forestry, which involves techniques for reforestation and sustainable management of forests. The term "forestry" derives from the Latin, combining "silva" (forest) and "cultura" (to cultivate). Forestry is essential for environmental preservation, contributing to the recovery of degraded areas and the protection of springs, in addition to having a significant impact on the economy. It includes activities such as planting, managing and harvesting trees, promoting the conscious use of wood and increasing forest productivity. In the current context, forestry helps to mitigate climate change, conserving biodiversity and capturing carbon from the atmosphere, which combats global warming.
