December 4th is Cheetah
December 4th is Cheetah Day. The date was created in 2015 by the Cheetah Conservation Fund to raise awareness about the conservation of the cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus), one of the most endangered felines in the world. The origin of the date is linked to the urgent need to protect the cheetah, whose population has declined drastically in recent decades due to habitat loss, poaching and conflicts with humans. Cheetahs are known for their incredible speed and agility, being the fastest land animals, but they face several challenges to their survival.
