Saint Tarcisius ' Day is celebrated on August 15th
Saint Tarcisius ' Day is celebrated on August 15th . Saint Tarcisius was a young acolyte during the persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire. He was tasked with taking the Holy Scriptures to Christians trapped in the catacombs of Rome. On his way, he was intercepted by a crowd of pagans who demanded to know what he was carrying. Instead of handing over the sacred texts, Tarcisius preferred to suffer death at the hands of his persecutors before allowing the Scriptures to be profaned. Due to his dedication, he is considered the patron saint of altar boys and Eucharist servers. His party is an opportunity for the faithful to reflect on his example of courage and devotion to the faith.
