Saint Hilaria Martyr 's Day is celebrated on August 12th
Saint Hilaria Martyr 's Day is celebrated on August 12th . Saint Hilaria, a Christian martyr, was the mother of Saint Afra, both originally pagan courtesans who converted to Christianity after receiving visits from Bishop Narcissus and Deacon Felix. During Diocletian's persecution in 304, Afra was condemned to be burned at the stake in Augsburg, Bavaria, and her mother, Hilaria, refused to leave her tomb, and was later arrested by pagans and burned alive while praying there. There are reports of other saints martyred at the same time, such as Claudius, his wife Hilaria and his children Jason and Mauro, as well as the saints Chrysanthus and Dária, whose martyrdoms influenced the conversion of Claudius and his family to Christianity.
