St. Lawrence Day is celebrated on August 10th
St. Lawrence Day is celebrated on August 10th . Lawrence of Rome was a Christian deacon in the 3rd century, known for his generosity and service to the poor. During the persecution of Christians under Emperor Valerian, Lorenzo was arrested and ordered to hand over the church's treasures. Instead, he distributed the money among the needy and presented the poor as the true treasures of the church. Enraged, the emperor sentenced him to death through torture, being burned alive on a grill. His example of generosity and fidelity to the Christian faith made him one of the most revered martyrs in Christian history. St. Lawrence Day is an opportunity for Catholics to honor his memory and be inspired by his example of service to those in need and courage in the face of persecution.
