Since the World title started to be decided in a single game

Since the World title started to be decided in a single game, only one South American team has defeated a European team by more than two goals ahead: it was Flamengo in 1981, who scored 3-0 against Liverpool, from England. Between 1980 and 1987, Flamengo remained the greatest team in Brazil: there were three Brazilian Championship titles, in addition to a União Cup (which Fla still tries to recognize as the Brazilian Championship), a Libertadores and a World Cup.
