April 28th is Caatinga Day in Brazil
April 28th is Caatinga Day in Brazil. This became official on August 20th, 2003, thanks to a decree that states that it is important to remember and value this unique biome.
And do you know why they chose April 28th? It was a tribute to Professor João Vasconcelos Sobrilho, who was one of the first to study the environment in Brazil.
This date serves to remember the importance of the Caatinga, which occupies about 11% of the country. It is spread across several states, such as Ceará, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, Bahia and part of Minas Gerais.
