Clueless is a romantic comedy, which was released in the United States on July 19, 1995 loosely based on the book Emma by Jane Austen released in 1815. It stars Alicia Silverstone in the lead role, Stacey Dash, Paul Rudd and Brittany Murphy. The film is set in Beverly Hills and was written and directed by Amy Heckerling and produced by Scott Rudin. Where Cher Horowitz (Silverstone) lives a privileged existence as the wealthy daughter of the new urban social elite. With good intentions, the young woman tries to help the people around her: to make her teachers find love, to repackage the style of a new student and to take care of her widowed father. Movie trivia: The movie was originally going to be called No Worries and was going to be a TV movie; Alicia Silverstone studied at Beverly Hills High, the school that served as inspiration for the film and the entire film was recorded in 40 days.
