The Peaky Blinders are a criminal gang of gypsy origins located in Birmingham, England, in 1919, emerging after the end of the First World War. The plot revolves around the ambition of their leader, Thomas "Tommy" Shelby, as the gang attracts the attention of Irish Major Chester Campbell, sent by Winston Churchill to restore order to the city by eliminating the Irish Republican Army, communists, gangs and common criminals. In 1921, the Shelby family expands its criminal enterprises in the South and North, maintaining a solid base in Birmingham. In 1924, they face new challenges when they become involved with anti-communist organizations and the Italian-American mafia. Tommy becomes a member of the English Parliament in 1927 and, in 1929, during Black Thursday, he confronts the English fascist leader Oswald Mosley, preceding the Great Depression.
